The World Bank's WACA ResIP 2 is crafted with the aim of mitigating both natural and human-induced hazards like coastal erosion, floods, pollution, and the impact of climate change on West African coastal communities.
Our coast and its numerous natural resources remain vital to supporting and enhancing livelihoods. Nationally, development priorities have considerably focused on and included projects geared towards improving the overall state and well-being of the people and environment within the coastal zones of Ghana.
These priorities remain the case due to past and current trends in coastal-based social, economic, environmental, climate change, and natural resource management challenges plaguing Ghana, including coastal erosion, community displacements, severe flooding, and loss of livelihoods.
In this vein, the government of Ghana, through the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MESTI) via financial support from the World Bank, is implementing the West Africa Coastal Areas Resilience Investment Project 2 (WACA ResIP 2) to help address some critical challenges within selected project beneficiary zones.
Our primary focus is tackling coastal degradation in West Africa. Stay updated on the initiatives and projects we are undertaking to preserve our coast.
